Quick Story Line
While the first Terminator was honestly a bit of a let-down, Terminator 2 for exceeds the first film by miles. I thought that instead of the first film doing a whole bunch of genres and not particularly well, this film chose to mostly be an action film and the action here looks great even today. I’ll even say the acting has improves as well, not that the first film had bad acting But Linda Hamilton does a good job conveying how much the events of the first film messed her up. Also having the Terminator from the first film (not actually the same but I’m simplifying here) turns out to be the main hero was a good way to subvert expectations. Not to mention that the T-1000 made for a good antagonist since he made the T-800 look obsolete, made for a decent underdog type of story.
James Cameron’s epic masterpiece is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi films. The visual effects from Industrial Light and Magic are marvelous and the film did win Best Visual Effects, Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing at Oscars from the ’90s. In addition, the bond between man and machine is one of the most iconic moments in cinema history. The action sequences are memorable from start to finish. The characters are very likable and the messages include: understanding the consequences of creating unknown technology, the possibility of finding hope for the future and preparing for the worst outcome.
